USING THE SELECT SECONDARY FONT ( FN ) COMMAND The Select Secondary Font command ( FN ), allows any accessible font that has been assigned a font ID number to be selected as the secondary (alternate) font. For more information see the PCL 5 Printer Language Technical Reference Manual. The syntax for this command is as follows: FN font-ID; LEGEND: Ec = [Ctrl] [P] [Esc] in DOS EDIT. EcE Resets the printer. Ec*c28D Specifies a font ID number of 28. Ec(s1p18v0s3b4148T Selects an 18-point Universe Bold font as the primary font. Ec*c6F Assigns the currently selected font as the temporary font with the current ID number (28). Ec%0B Enters HP-GL/2 mode. IN; Initializes HP-GL/2 mode. SP1; Selects pen number 1, (black). Even though there is no physical pen, the SP command must be used to enable printing. PA1500,1500; Specifies absolute plotting and moves to (1500,1500). DT#; Defines "#" as a label terminator (non- printing). LBLaserJet Printers CR-LF#; Prints "LaserJet Printers" in the currently selected font, which is the default Stick font, followed by a Carriage Return and Line Feed (CR-LF). AD4,18;FN28;SA; Uses the AD command to designate an 18-point font from within HP-GL/2 mode; selects the PCL font with font ID number 28 as the secondary font; selects the font. LBLaserJet Printers#; Prints "LaserJet Printers" in the newly selected font. Ec%0A Enters PCL mode. EcE Sends a reset to end the job and eject the page.
