I'm looking for help to develop a schedule for our bridge group. We are 20 players, and we play 2 tables per week (i.e. 8 players) for 30 weeks, with one player hosting. I would like a schedule that gives players equal numbers of games, while ensuring that the same people do not play together all the time. I realize that half of the players will host twice, while the other half will only host once, and that is OK. Can anyone help me set this up??
Thanks!

Can you say what happens when 8 players meet?  Is there mixing, so all 8 players get the chance to play with each other on that day, or do you split them into two fixed groups of 4?  You have not mentioned it, so I assume that there are no fixed partnerships.  Thanks.

You're right, there are no fixed partnerships. Thanks for looking into this, Ian.

What about the format of play?  I still have no idea what you do when 8 players come together.

We use tally cards which assign us a number and we switch partners according to that every four hands. We usually play 3 rounds and it doesn't matter if we play with everyone in attendance that evening.

This is brilliant!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't wait to send this out to the ladies in our bridge group. We call ourselves the RCBC , the Royal Canadian Bridge Club, and we have a lot of fun. The most difficult task has always been to come up with an equitable schedule and you have just done that for us.
Let the games begin!
With much gratitude,
Yours,
Vivi
