Hey,

This is my problem. I'm in a Futsal team. And I want to organise a one-day tournament.
The tournament is with 5 teams in round robin. The problem in my sheldule is that a team can not play 2 matches in a row.
I tried some things but their is always 1 team that plays 2 matches in a row.
Hope someone can help me

Thanks!

I can come up with this:

   5 or 6 players
Rd:       Pairings:
1:    1-6   5-2   4-3
2:    6-4   2-1   3-5
3:    2-6   1-3   5-4
4:    6-5   3-2   4-1
5:    3-6   2-4   1-5

but, assuming you ignore the first column (the team playing 6 has a bye this round) and play the games sequentially (left to right) then move on to the next round, teams 3 and 4 would play consective games.  Could you schedule a break between rounds 2-3 and later after round 4?

I think you misunderstand it. The tournament is with 5 teams not with 6.
So every team plays 4 matches.
So every team need to rest once.

But a team can not play 2 matches in a row.

Hello,

Try this ...

(4-5), (1-2), (3-5), (2-4), (1-3), (2-5), (3-4), (1-5), (2-3), (1-4)

You are welcome - I had just been working on various schedules for a round robin billiard tournament with limited tables and the desire to balance the rest periods for each player.  I went back and checked to see if their was a better solution to your problem per your team 4 comment.  I could not find one.  It seems that requiring all teams to have at least one rest period between their games forces one of the teams to always have two rest periods between their games...
