home and away

I coach a 12U softball team, this is my first year. There are only 3 teams in our division. My question is what determines who is home and who is away. We eliminated one team and when we played the other team they were always home

A schedule for 3 teams balanced for home and away is certainly possible:

         H A
round 1 (1 3)
round 2 (2 1)
round 3 (3 2)

I am not sure I understand what you mean by the eliminating one team.  Perhaps you can explain some more.
