If there are 5 tables and 20 players then surely everyone is able to play at the same time - so there is no need for byes?  Would you describe the problem in some more detail please?  Thanks.

Actually we will have 24 euchre players, 5 tables, hopefully 10 rounds max, with each person getting at least 1 bye (or more if needed).

I can offer a solution with 6 rounds where every player receives exactly one bye.  All the 5 partners and 10 opponents that a player sits down together with are different.  I could do something similar for 12 rounds but that would be too many I think. Hope that helps.

  Table 1        Table 2        Table 3       Table 4        Table 5         Byes
( 8 1 v 16 12) (17 5 v 11 19) (20 3 v 2 13) ( 9 10 v 21 6) (14 23 v 24 18) (15 22  7 4)
( 9 2 v 17  7) (18 6 v 12 20) (21 4 v 3 14) (10 11 v 22 1) (15 24 v 19 13) (16 23  8 5)
(10 3 v 18  8) (13 1 v  7 21) (22 5 v 4 15) (11 12 v 23 2) (16 19 v 20 14) (17 24  9 6)
(11 4 v 13  9) (14 2 v  8 22) (23 6 v 5 16) (12  7 v 24 3) (17 20 v 21 15) (18 19 10 1)
(12 5 v 14 10) (15 3 v  9 23) (24 1 v 6 17) ( 7  8 v 19 4) (18 21 v 22 16) (13 20 11 2)
( 7 6 v 15 11) (16 4 v 10 24) (19 2 v 1 18) ( 8  9 v 20 5) (13 22 v 23 17) (14 21 12 3)
