withdrawal from competition

In a round robin competition where teams get points for each match they have won, what happens if a team withdrawal from the competition. Do they lose their points?

It might be different for different sports or games.  If a player withdraws before completing half of the schedule in chess tournament, all results against that person are thrown out.  Past the halfway point unplayed games are scored as wins by default for the opponents in unplayed games.
