I am new to this board, and hope someone can help me. We are a group of 5 players who have signed on to play in a 34-week doubles rotation. Is there a plan such that all 5 of us play an equal number of weeks over the course of the 34-week season, and also so that we are paired (more or less) equitably with each other during the 34 weeks?

All help is appreciated.

...Craig R.

Craig,

There are only 15 possible doubles matches that you can play.  These are:

(1 2 v 3 4)
(1 2 v 3 5)
(1 2 v 4 5)
(1 3 v 2 4)
(1 3 v 2 5)
(1 3 v 4 5)
(1 4 v 2 3)
(1 4 v 2 5)
(1 4 v 3 5)
(1 5 v 2 3)
(1 5 v 2 4)
(1 5 v 3 4)
(2 3 v 4 5)
(2 4 v 3 5)
(2 5 v 3 4)

So play these in a randomized order for the first 15 weeks, then play them again in a different randomized order for the next 15 weeks.

For the final 4 weeks play 4 of rounds from the standard schedule for 5 players, for example see here on the Wiseman web site.

Hope that helps.
