doubles mixer scheduling

 Is there some math way to set up a series of 4 rounds of 4 doubles games-
  so that none of the 16 players plays with the same player twice?
    If that is not mathmatically possible, what is the closest to that?
      (i.e. fewest occurrence of same 2 players on same court-
       We have a schedule that someone made up- which has only a few repeats)

It is possible to have 5 rounds like this.  For example, see the schedule here.  You are free to assign the groups of four players to partners and opponents in any way you like, no matter how you do this a player will always have 5 partners and 10 opponents who are all different.
