I have developed 8, 10 and 12 team balanced double round robin fixtures using Ian's spreadsheet output as a starting point. [By the way, thankyou for the spreadsheet, Ian.]
The sport is table tennis, with a single venue.
For all 3 fixtures, each team needs to play once or twice on each table as a home team and as an away team with a total of 3 or 4 matches on each table.
At the same time the aim is to minimize any runs of home or away games.
This is a practical nicety, since the home team allocation determines which team begins umpiring the first match, and hence means that the home team will umpire one more match on the night.
Is it possible to get table balanced double round robin fixtures without runs of 3 or more?
The fixtures attached have 2 runs of 3 for 10 and 12 team fixtures, with 3 runs of 3 for the 8 team fixture. Is it possible to get them without runs of 3?
