Hey!

I am hosting a King/Queen of the Beach.  I have 6 guys and 6 gals on two nets.  I would like each of the guys to play with each of the gals and against each of the other guys/gals at least once.  We only have time for 9 rounds, which should work with each player playing 6 games and sitting out for 3.

I tried this on my own, but one guy played against the same gal 5 times out of six games--FAIL!   :o

Thanks!

A solution where all pairs of guys and gals play with and against each other at least once is possible.  It would also be nice to distribute the byes so that no player has two byes in a row, and furthermore that each player has, two games in rounds 1-3, two games in rounds 4-6 and their last two games in rounds 7-9.  It is possible, but it seems the only way of doing this, is to keep the players in the same groups of 4 when it comes to the byes.  I hope the schedule below is useful.

      Net 1             Net 2            Byes
[(M5 F5):(M3 F4)] [(M4 F3):(M6 F6)]  [M1 M2 F1 F2]
[(M6 F5):(M2 F2)] [(M5 F6):(M1 F1)]  [M3 M4 F3 F4]
[(M1 F3):(M3 F2)] [(M4 F1):(M2 F4)]  [M5 M6 F5 F6]
--------------------------------------------------
[(M1 F6):(M2 F5)] [(M5 F1):(M6 F2)]  [M3 M4 F3 F4]
[(M4 F4):(M1 F2)] [(M2 F1):(M3 F3)]  [M5 M6 F5 F6]
[(M5 F3):(M4 F5)] [(M6 F4):(M3 F6)]  [M1 M2 F1 F2]
--------------------------------------------------
[(M2 F6):(M5 F2)] [(M6 F1):(M1 F5)]  [M3 M4 F3 F4]
[(M5 F4):(M6 F3)] [(M4 F2):(M3 F1)]  [M1 M2 F5 F6]
[(M3 F5):(M4 F6)] [(M1 F4):(M2 F3)]  [M5 M6 F1 F2]

Note added later:  I have corrected the female byes in the last two rounds above, in the initial version these byes were given the wrong way around.

Ian could you possibly set this same format up with 6 guys and 6 gals but on three nets instead of two? And only 6 rounds instead of 7

Ian could you generate a schedule for 16 players King/Queen of the Beach (3 courts)

16 Players (8 Male / 8 Female)
Every male plays with and against every female 1x
Every male plays against each male 1x (and one other male 2x)

Here is a schedule that does exactly what you want in 11 rounds, that is 10 rounds on 3 courts and 1 short round on 2 courts.

(M2 F3 : M6 F5) (M3 F2 : M7 F1) (M5 F7 : M8 F6)
(M1 F8 : M2 F1) (M3 F5 : M5 F6) (M4 F3 : M8 F7)
(M1 F5 : M6 F7) (M3 F6 : M4 F8) (M7 F2 : M8 F1)
(M1 F7 : M3 F8) (M4 F6 : M6 F1) (M5 F3 : M7 F4)
(M2 F7 : M5 F1) (M3 F3 : M4 F4) (M6 F6 : M8 F2)
(M2 F4 : M4 F2) (M3 F1 : M6 F3) (M7 F5 : M8 F8)
(M1 F1 : M8 F4) (M2 F5 : M7 F6) (M5 F8 : M6 F2)
(M1 F3 : M5 F2) (M3 F4 : M8 F5) (M4 F7 : M7 F8)
(M1 F2 : M4 F5) (M2 F8 : M8 F3) (M6 F4 : M7 F7)
(M1 F6 : M7 F3) (M2 F2 : M3 F7) (M5 F4 : M6 F8)
(M1 F4 : M2 F6) (M4 F1 : M5 F5)

The same sex repeated opposition pairs are (M1 M2),(M3 M4), etc.. (F1 F2),(F3 F4) etc..  There is no known way of scheduling the same tournament in 8 rounds on 4 courts.  Hope that helps.
