Hi there,
Planning yard game Olympics with 7 teams and 6 events in which they play each other once. I cannot figure this out and have searched like crazy for a solution. Any help with scheduling would be sincerely amazing!

Also wondering if could provide schedule  if 8 teams/7 events or 9 teams/8 events. This is in case others show up.

I am basing this off the idea it is easiest with one less event than teams? Maybe a totally inaccurate assumption.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

If you insist on all teams playing each other exactly once, then you are correct that you must have one less event than teams, however this only works for an even number of teams (n>=8).  The schedule for n=10 is contained in this post and the wikipedia link you will find there gives you the schedule for 8 teams.

In general an odd number of teams is bad - there will be nothing balanced as there are byes and it is impossible to have everyone play each event exactly once.
