Hi,
We're having a mixed doubles tennis tournament and I have to do the schedule! I don't have excel so can't open the example on this website.
There are 6 couples and 2 courts. One court inside, one outside. Round robin, each couple playing another couple once, so 5 matches each (we are playing 4 games, then swapping partners to make a total of 8 games in one match, keeping personal scores so no need to play finals we will just have a top man/woman) Would like each couple to play both inside and outside courts with hopefully them not playing more than 2 matches in a row (we're not that fit and need a little rest!!)
Thanking in advance for any help or suggestions x

Hi,

Since a couple always stays in the same match I think a singles schedule is sufficient for you needs.  So for example, if the couples are labelled A to F:

(C D) (---)
(A B) (E F)
(C F) (B D)
(D E) (A C)
(A E) (B F)
(B C) (A D)
(D F) (B E)
(A F) (C E)

This gives all 15 matches in 8 rounds with each player 2 or 3 times in each column (court).  There are too few couples to avoid having more than 2 matches in a row - in particular both A & B have a run of 3 matches.

Hope that helps.
