Hello...

I'm trying to organize a mixed co-ed King/Queen of the Cove volleyball tournament, and I saw your schedule for 16 players with 8 males and 8 females.

     Net 1            Net 2            Net 3           Byes
(M2 F3 : M6 F5)  (M3 F2 : M7 F1)  (M5 F7 : M8 F6)  (M1 M4 F4 F8)
(M1 F8 : M2 F1)  (M3 F5 : M5 F6)  (M4 F3 : M8 F7)  (M6 M7 F2 F4)
(M1 F5 : M6 F7)  (M3 F6 : M4 F8)  (M7 F2 : M8 F1)  (M2 M5 F3 F4)
(M1 F7 : M3 F8)  (M4 F6 : M6 F1)  (M5 F3 : M7 F4)  (M2 M8 F2 F5)
(M2 F7 : M5 F1)  (M3 F3 : M4 F4)  (M6 F6 : M8 F2)  (M1 M7 F5 F8)
(M2 F4 : M4 F2)  (M3 F1 : M6 F3)  (M7 F5 : M8 F8)  (M1 M5 F6 F7)
(M1 F1 : M8 F4)  (M2 F5 : M7 F6)  (M5 F8 : M6 F2)  (M3 M4 F3 F7)
(M1 F3 : M5 F2)  (M3 F4 : M8 F5)  (M4 F7 : M7 F8)  (M2 M6 F1 F6)
(M1 F2 : M4 F5)  (M2 F8 : M8 F3)  (M6 F4 : M7 F7)  (M3 M5 F1 F6)
(M1 F6 : M7 F3)  (M2 F2 : M3 F7)  (M5 F4 : M6 F8)  (M4 M8 F1 F5)
(M1 F4 : M2 F6)  (M4 F1 : M5 F5)                   (M3 M6 M7 M8 F2 F3 F7 F8)

The problem is, my co-organizer wants to have 10 males and 10 females, but we aren't sure how to schedule that many players.  We'll probably have 3 nets, but we may be able to add a net if necessary.

Can you help?

Thanks!

Hello,

I think you should be able to adapt the following schedule:

(M04 F06 : M10 F08) (M03 F05 : M09 F07) (M06 F03 : M08 F09) (M05 F04 : M07 F10) (M01 F01 : M02 F02)
(M06 F10 : M07 F03) (M05 F09 : M08 F04) (M03 F08 : M10 F05) (M04 F07 : M09 F06) (M01 F02 : M02 F01)
(M01 F09 : M05 F07) (M02 F10 : M06 F08) (M07 F06 : M09 F02) (M08 F05 : M10 F01) (M03 F03 : M04 F04)
(M08 F02 : M09 F05) (M07 F01 : M10 F06) (M02 F07 : M05 F10) (M01 F08 : M06 F09) (M03 F04 : M04 F03)
(M02 F03 : M10 F07) (M01 F04 : M09 F08) (M03 F01 : M07 F09) (M04 F02 : M08 F10) (M05 F05 : M06 F06)
(M03 F10 : M08 F01) (M04 F09 : M07 F02) (M01 F07 : M10 F04) (M02 F08 : M09 F03) (M05 F06 : M06 F05)
(M01 F10 : M03 F06) (M02 F09 : M04 F05) (M06 F04 : M10 F02) (M05 F03 : M09 F01) (M07 F07 : M08 F08)
(M06 F01 : M09 F04) (M05 F02 : M10 F03) (M01 F05 : M04 F10) (M02 F06 : M03 F09) (M07 F08 : M08 F07)
(M03 F02 : M05 F08) (M04 F01 : M06 F07) (M02 F04 : M08 F06) (M01 F03 : M07 F05) (M09 F09 : M10 F10)
(M02 F05 : M07 F04) (M01 F06 : M08 F03) (M04 F08 : M05 F01) (M03 F07 : M06 F02) (M09 F10 : M10 F09)

You could remove the last column and rearrange it to become 2 new rounds of 4 games and 1 round of 2 games.  Following the same pattern, it should also be possible (I think) to rearrange the games from the last two columns to become new rounds of 3 games.

Hope that helps.
